C. Daniel Boling: Listen to Music
Someday
I wrote the lyrics for this song a couple years ago but wasn't happy with the music I was using at the time. One day while driving (that's when a lot of my musical inspiration strikes) I realized that a pseudo-reggae treatment made it a whole new song, and one I liked a LOT better! Touring around the country in the past year or so this version has become a standard offering in my shows and folks always jump right in and help me sing it. I hope you will too.
Someday, somedayWe will, we will understandSomeday, somedayWe will understandWhen we give as much respect to teachers as to movie starsWhen we spend as much on homeless shelters as on prison barsWhen we see our fellow man in need and give him some of oursSomeday, somedayWe will, we will understandSomeday, somedayWe will understandWhen every child has food enough and somewhere safe to sleepAnd a kind and loving family teaching values he can keepWhen in a land of plenty noone’s living on the streetSomeday, somedayWe will, we will understandSomeday, somedayWe will understandWhen humanity’s diversity is a reason to rejoiceWhen the hopeless and forgotten finally have an equal voiceWhen basic human dignity’s a birthright not a choiceSomeday, somedayWe will, we will understandSomeday, somedayWe will understandSomeday, someday
We will, we will understand
Someday, someday
We will understand
When we give as much respect to teachers as to movie stars
When we spend as much on homeless shelters as on prison bars
When we see our fellow man in need and give him some of ours
Someday, someday
We will, we will understand
Someday, someday
We will understand
When every child has food enough and somewhere safe to sleep
And a kind and loving family teaching values he can keep
When in a land of plenty noone’s living on the street
Someday, someday
We will, we will understand
Someday, someday
We will understand
When humanity’s diversity is a reason to rejoice
When the hopeless and forgotten finally have an equal voice
When basic human dignity’s a birthright not a choice
Someday, someday
We will, we will understand
Someday, someday
We will understand
