SINGER/SONGWRITER FRIENDS
JOHN DARLOWE BOSWELL is a dear friend of many years, and an American treasure in the world of folk music. JOHN has traveled the U.S. with his music for over 30 years, performed in all 50 States and three Canadian Provinces, and brought a great deal of joy to a great many people. You'll find JOHN and his music elsewhere here on the PERFECTLY STABLE MUSIC website, and if you'd like to know where JOHN is playing currently, please visit his web calendar by clicking on the link below.

BILL WARD is one of my favorite songwriters and performers. He hails from the Houston, Texas area and performs all over the country in a variety of venues large and small. Bill has headlined the Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower, South Florida Folk Festival and others. I had the pleasure of opening a show for bill in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Outpost Performance Space on July 27, 2001 . Bill did much of the production on my newest CD, THE OLD INTERNATIONAL, and performed on a number of the songs. Wow! Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit BILL's website and hear some of his music.

JOHN TWIST is an amaizing musician. There is a good bit of "sameness" in the acoustic music world, but not where John is concerned. His writing, his guitar work, his voice are each unique and fascinating. I've waited none too patiently for him to release a full length CD of his original music, and FINALLY he has! THE VINE GROWS BACK is a truely remarkable album. Please visit John's website and check out his music. You won't be disappointed.
MACKIE REDD is a wonderful singer/songwriter from the Wichita, Kansas area. MACKIE and I shared the stage at the ARTICHOKE SANDWICH BAR in Witchta for a songwriters round on Friday, June 29th, 2001. Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit MACKIE's website, hear some of his great songs, and find out where else he'll be performing. MACKIE has won a number of songwriting awards and the reason is simple...he's really good!
ROGER DALE is a great singer/songwriter based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ROGER is one of those true "songwriters" who get up every single morning and write songs. As a result, he has hundreds...and they're GREAT too! On top of that he knows his way around a guitar better than most pickers I've met, he sings great, gives a fine show, and he's one of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit ROGER's website. You'll be able to hear some of his songs, find out more about his music, and purchase his wonderful CD "THERE'S A SONG SOMEWHERE".
JESSE THURGOOD is based in Payson, Utah. He has an amazing voice, wonderful guitar style and songs that go straight to my heart. JESSE was a Newfolk Finalist in 2001 at the Kerrville Folk Festival. This is a great honor reserved for the very best up and coming songwriters. He's also an all around nice guy! Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit JESSE's website and find out more~!
STEVE GILLETTE and CINDY MANGSEN are among the very best folksinger/songwriters in America, in my opinion. Wonderful performers and dear people, they embody what I think of as the folk spirit - letting the love of people and music be their compass through life. If you've met these folks and seen them perform, you know what I mean. Their music is timeless and relevant and accessible - well, you'd expect it to be, because so are they. Please visit their website and support their music. It's "the good stuff"!
JACK WILLIAMS is, for my money, the very best guitar player in the world. Of course, that only counts the ones I've heard - but that's quite a few! He's also a world class folksinger/songwriter and performer and a very dear man. If you're not already acquainted with his music, you'll be glad you found it. Please visit his website and be sure to attend the next show anyplace near you. You WON'T be disappointed.

Albuquerque does not have as many good acoustic venues as we'd all like, but there are a few. One of the best is SOLID GROUNDS. An outreach of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, SOLID GROUNDS features singer/songwriters, as well as other performance art, every Saturday evening - free to the public, with coffee, tea, cookies, childcare, fellowship - this is one of Albuquerque's gems and needs to be discovered. Always an excellent choice for a Saturday evening. Please drop by - here's their webpage too.
New Mexico Music is a new website posting musicians, venues, performances and links specific to New Mexico. Mitch has some excellent information compiled to simplify your search for what's happening on New Mexico's music front. Please visit the site and take a look around.
Albuquerque's best known venue for all types of independent music is the OUTPOST PERFORMANCE SPACE. Tom and the rest of the gang do a great job of bringing the best in jazz, folk, blues and a variety of acoustic music to town. They've recently moved into a wonderful new space and it's a real pleasure to attend a show there. Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit the OUTPOST PERFORMANCE SPACE website and learn more about their programs and show shedule.
I performed recently at the ARTICHOKE SANDWICH BAR in Wichita, Kansas. This is Wichita's premier acoustic music venue. Please CLICK on the LINK below to visit the "CHOKE's" website and see more about the venue, the artists that play there, and the food too. Nice folks and a great music listening crowd. Keep up the good work. We need all the acoustic venues we can get!
Daniel's song WELCOME HOME (title track of the 2nd CD release) has been the theme song of the ALBUQUERQUE FOLK FESTIVAL for several years! The 7th Annual AFF will be held on June 18th, 2005 at the Albuquerque Fair Grounds. It's very inexpensive and runs all day. The Festival draws several thousand folks. The focus is on PARTICIPATING in music and dance, and there's lots of opportunity to just watch and listen too ! Please CLICK on the AFF image below to check out their website for more details.
Daniel has been a FINALIST in the Singer/Songwriter Contest at the SOUTH FLORIDA FOLK FESTIVAL in 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003. Please CLICK on the SFFF image below to link to their website for more details on a wonderful Festival. It's not the biggest folk festival in the country, but it's one of the BEST (and being small is part of it's charm).
In September, 2005 Daniel was a Winner in the Singer/Songwriter Contest at the WALNUT VALLEY ACOUSTIC MUSIC FESTIVAL in Winfield, Kansas. Please CLICK on the Walnut Valley image below to link to their website for more details on this long standing and prestigious Festival. What a treat to get to spend a few days and nights there picking around the camp fires and to share the stage with a few old friends and some new ones too.

I recently became reacquainted with a singer/songwriter I knew in Lubbock, Texas when we both performed there in the late 70s. BRAD CARTER is still writing and performing in and around Lubbock and has some great songs. He also runs YellowHouse Music, an on line source for his music and that of several other singer/songwriters, including the wonderful songs of ANDY WILKINSON. Please drop by Brad's site.

One of the most popular songs on my 2000 CD, WELCOME HOME, is "Darwin's Pride & Joy". The song is a humorous look at the fatal misadventures of several unfortunate folks...and how their demise serves to support the Darwinian principle of "survival of the fittest". The website <darwinawards.com> is THE source for many interesting stories of this sort, as well as "Darwin Award" clothing, publications, etc. These folks have done a tremendous amount of work and have built a great site. Please check it out...if your taste in humor is a little "sick"! CLICK on the image below to LINK to www.darwinawards.com
